Why Anse Lazio is better from the water
Anse Lazio is regularly ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world. By road you arrive at one end of it, walk through the trees and step onto the sand. By boat you see the whole curve at once — the granite shoulders that frame the bay, the reef bar a hundred metres off the beach, the colour gradient from turquoise to ink-blue as the depth drops. We anchor inside the bay, give you the option to swim ashore (no entry fee from the water), and use the north reef for the snorkel stop. It's the best way to see this beach without sharing it with every road tourist on Praslin.
The reef on the north side
The north end of Anse Lazio has a granite outcrop that drops straight into 5-8 metres of clear water. The reef on that face is alive with parrotfish, butterflyfish, the occasional eagle ray and a resident pair of hawksbill turtles. It's one of the most consistent snorkel stops on the west side of Praslin — visibility is best on the morning tide.
Optional stop at Anse Georgette
If conditions allow, we add a short stop at Anse Georgette on the return. Georgette is technically inside the Constance Lemuria resort but accessible from the sea — most boats can't anchor there because of the reef, but we know the line in. It's emptier than Lazio and feels half a degree more remote.
Anse Lazio vs the La Digue tour — which to pick?
Pick Anse Lazio if you want a half-day in the most famous beach of Praslin without the road crowds. Pick the La Digue tour if you'd rather spend the time around your own island and see Anse Source d'Argent from the sea. Both work as half-day options; we run them in the morning or the afternoon, and Lazio is one of our best-rated sunset alternatives.

Anse Lazio — frequently asked
Is there an entry fee to Anse Lazio?
+
Not from the sea. The road access is free; if you swim in from the boat, you simply step onto the public beach.
Can we land at Anse Georgette?
+
Officially the beach belongs to the Constance Lemuria resort, but it is open to the public from the sea. We can approach by boat and swim ashore depending on conditions.
Is the bay safe for children?
+
Yes — the lagoon side is shallow and protected. The reef on the north side is for confident swimmers.
What about the south-east trade winds?
+
From June to September the south-easters can make Lazio choppy in the afternoon. We adapt — morning slot is safer.
Can we combine Anse Lazio with St-Pierre Islet?
+
Yes, often. The two are 15 minutes apart by boat — many guests do both as a full-day combo.
