Why the inner islands are at their best at sunset

Sunset in Seychelles is short — twenty minutes from gold to dark — but those twenty minutes are what people travel for. The granite of La Digue, pink in afternoon light, turns orange and then deep red. The lagoon goes from turquoise to pewter. The reef cuts a darker line on the water. From the boat, with the engine off, the only sound is the swell against the hull. We time the cruise to the exact sun angle of the day — boarding at 16:30, holding off Anse Source d'Argent between 17:30 and 18:00, returning to marina between 19:00 and 19:30 depending on the month.

Anse Source d'Argent at golden hour

The land park closes at 18:00. From the sea, the beach stays open as long as you can see it. We hold the boat 80 metres offshore — close enough that the granite shapes feel three storeys tall, far enough that the wash doesn't bother anyone still on the beach. If the tide is right, you can step off the boat and walk to the sand. Most guests just stay onboard with a drink and watch.

What's onboard

A chilled bottle (you choose at booking — sparkling, white, rosé or non-alcoholic), water, sodas, and a small platter — local fruit, cheese, light bites. The captain keeps the engine low and the route smooth. No microphone, no group banter — it's your evening.

The honeymoon version

If you book the sunset for an occasion (honeymoon, anniversary, proposal), tell us. We add a small surprise — flowers from the local market, a card from the captain, a slightly longer route past Petite Anse where almost no other boats go. We do this discreetly; no surprise mention on the boat itself.

Boarding at 16:30 — we adjust by 30 minutes either way depending on the month and the actual sunset time. We'll confirm the exact time the day before.

Can we book this for a proposal or honeymoon?

+

Yes — tell us at booking and we'll add a small surprise (flowers, captain's card, slightly longer route). It stays discreet.

Is there food onboard?

A small platter (fruit, cheese, light bites) and drinks. For a full dinner we recommend the marina restaurants on return.
