Around La Digue by Sea — Anse Source d'Argent from the Water

Half a day or sunset around La Digue, seen the way the island was always meant to be seen — from the water. We slip along the granite shore, anchor where no road reaches, and finish on the cliff-side beaches at golden hour.

Why the best view of La Digue is from the boat

Most visitors see La Digue from a bicycle saddle — which is good, but partial. The island's true silhouette is its 9 kilometres of granite coastline, the cliffs that fall straight into deep water on the east side, the sea-only beaches at Anse Cocos and Petite Anse, and Anse Source d'Argent at sunset when the road is closed but the water is open. We run two versions of this trip. A morning circuit with two anchorages and a swim. A sunset circuit that times Anse Source d'Argent for the golden hour and finishes back in the marina under a sky most people only see in postcards.

Anse Source d'Argent from the water

From the sea, Anse Source d'Argent reveals what you can't see from the path: the long curve of granite shoulders behind the famous palm tree, the offshore reef shelf that turns the lagoon turquoise, and — at low tide — a sandbank where you can step off the boat into 30 cm of water and walk to the beach. The park has an entry fee on the land side; from the water we simply anchor offshore and you swim in if you like.

Anse Cocos and the east-coast beaches

Anse Cocos is one of those Seychelles beaches that has no easy land access — a long walk from Grande Anse or a short swim from the boat. Same for Petite Anse: a sliver of sand framed by two granite shoulders, with a single house behind it. We anchor in the lee, you swim or snorkel; the captain stays with the boat.

The sunset version of this trip

Booked between 16:30 and 19:30 depending on season. We start by heading south down the east coast, swing back past Anse Source d'Argent for the gold light, then drift slowly into the marina under the last colour of the day. Drinks, a small platter on board, and the kind of quiet you don't get on a group cruise.

La Digue tour — frequently asked

Can we land at Anse Source d'Argent?

+

Yes — you swim ashore from the anchored boat at low tide it is barely a wade. The land park fee is only required if you walk further inland.

Sunset cruise vs morning cruise — which to pick?

+

Sunset for the light and the calm. Morning if you want the longer swim and snorkel windows.

Is this trip good for honeymooners?

+

Many guests book it for a private anniversary. We can add a small platter, a chilled bottle, and a slower pace if you let us know.

Will we see other boats?

+

On the Anse Source d'Argent stretch, sometimes one or two. Past the south point, almost never.

Is the sea calm year-round?

+

Inside La Digue it is calm most of the year. On the east coast the south-east trade winds (June-September) bring some swell — we adapt the route.
